Oscar Brown (1903-1997), who was born in Norway, came to the United States at the age of 22 and worked a variety of jobs to earn his way. In 1928, he entered the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On graduation in 1930, he made his way to Juneau, Alaska.
